From the time of the establishment of the Court of Appeal in 1977, the Court of Appeal had its headquarters in Nairobi, operating on a circuit basis to hear appeals in Mombasa, Kisumu, Nyeri, and Eldoret. However, with the implementation of Pillar one of the Judiciary Transformation Framework from 2012 to 2016, particularly focusing on ‘People Focused Delivery of Justice – Access to and Expeditious Delivery of Justice’, the court underwent full decentralization in 2012, extending its reach to Malindi, Nyeri, and Kisumu. Subsequently, the Malindi Court relocated to Mombasa. Presently, the Court of Appeal maintains permanent stations in Nairobi, Nyeri, Kisumu, Mombasa, Nakuru, and Eldoret, along with sub-registries in Malindi, Meru, Busia, Kakamega, Kisii, and Garissa.
